"Dear Scotties: I just had my car refinished by your experts in the body shop. How soon can I start washing and buffing it?"
--Pondering in Portland

Dear Pondering:
Whenever you get your car painted, it is good to wait at least 60 days before taking it through the car wash or waxing it. The paint, even though dry, still needs time to cure. For the best results, don't park it under a maple tree! There is one situation that you will want to address immediately: Bird droppings. The acid in bird droppings will ruin the portion of the paint job that it covers. Simply wash the soiled spot with a warm washcloth, as the acid will do more damage than a quick wash. Thank you for your question.
